Charles Mingus // Fables of Faubus

I was listening to JazzFM when the song came into my night, a jazz tune from the fifties could mean something special, Fables of Faubus confirms that rule, who was Faubus? The tune develops in a way that has always caught my attention – will there be any story behind the song? Orval Faubus was an Arkansas governor, the plot involves nine African-American teenagers, the National Guard and even the army’s 101st Airborne Division, all of it in a small town named Little Rock.

the whole story can be read here
