It’s hard to explain the excitement around these streamed concerts – I guess it’s something like a football match – unpredictable and thrilling if played with top players.

One of my favourite drummers – a real legend – a perfect trio!
Billy Hart – drums Johannes Enders – saxophone Martin Zenker – bass
Two great sets and an interview to Ethan Iverson make this mixcloud unmissable! They performed at Bimhaus, Amsterdam last May 7.
When John Tchicai came to the Festival Jazz Contemporâneo Setúbal 79, the format he presented, a Saxophone Quartet along with Andre Goudbeek, François Jeanneau and Philipe Maté – all of them experienced musicians, has been a noteworthy memory from their concert until today. Their polyphonic and multiple combinations amazed the audience and myself, unprepared to listen to 4 saxophones playing together.
Tribal Ghost, some years later, shows the options John Tchicai had taken for his playing around 2007: a very hard work around sound!
John Tchicai on tenor saxophone and bass clarinet; Charlie Kohlhase – alto, tenor and baritone saxophones; Garrison Fewell – guitar and percussion; Cecil McBee – bass and Billy Hart on drums. Composed by Garrison Fewell (Ninth World Music BMI). Recorded live on February 9th &10th, 2007
New York jazz scene – or so it sounds to me – and how I enjoy it!

Dave Liebman, Billy Hart, Marc Copland, John Abercrombie and Drew Gress – Contact – performed at Jazz à Porquerolles in 2010. Porquerolles is the biggest of the three islands of Or in the Hyeres gulf. It is 7 km long and 3km wide, Porquerolles is the most popular, with the largest population. It seems a fantastic place to come into existence. It is also the ideal place to listen to really good music!
