Diane Schuur: I Remember You (With Love To Stan And Frank)

This tribute album to Frank Sinatra and Stan Getz – both having a core importance in Diane Schuur’s career – shows my favourite side of this fabulous songbird – her jazz vocalist extraordinary skills – scat singing included. With a small group jazz backup, Schuur reveals all her vitality and exuberance – clearly at her utmost.

Billie Holiday – My Man

The song was created in France – where it was a hit for Mistinguett, a French actress and singer –  in 1916 – it became popular in the English speaking world in the 1920s with the 1921 recording by Ziegfeld Follies singer Fanny Brice. The ballad version recorded by Brice was modified by Billie Holiday, who introduced a jazz/blues recording of “My Man”.
