WAYNE SHORTER || House of Jade

Wayne Shorter‘s album Juju, is on my CD collection for many years now, the track House of Jade is one of my favourites, it’s perfectly clear the option I have made some years ago!

Trio 3 & Vijay Iyer: Wiring

Trio 3 relives the free jazz of late Coltrane and Albert Ayler. This is their fourth album – each one brings a new pianist – now it’s Vijay Iyer‘s turn to share their free spirit.

Saxophonist Oliver Lake (World Saxophone Quartet), bassist Reggie Workman (John Coltrane) and drummer Andrew Cyrille (Cecil Taylor) don’t need reinforcement from anyone. But each different pianist creates a new subtlety and power, and Iyer’s presence brings intelectuallity and tradition.

John Coltrane Quartet: Ballads

Ballads is an album by The John Coltrane Quartet that I look for several times along the year. I know it is there, as a safe harbour to moor in shelter. Listening to every track really gives me something else. This year I am listening to it on a Summer day – very early in the morning – perplexing, isn’t it?
