Four months after the recording of Out To Lunch, Eric Dolphy passed away. All compositions are by himself – the record is now fifty years old – and it is one of the high points in the 1960s avant garde jazz. It is also a Blue Note record – one of the most challenging in the catalog. Dolphy reaches his creative peak – a brilliant album which needs a very open-minded listening. I really feel into it – on this cold but clear Saturday morning!
