Back to the Festival Jazz Contemporâneo Setúbal 79, Steve Lacy was also playing there, solo, for nearly an hour, on a Sunday afternoon at about 4 pm. He certainly made an impact on us, his soprano saxophone sound was daunting, quite different from the commonly associated sounds of the instrument, however Lacy is remarkably strong and beautifully lyrical.

Ten years later, in 1989, his sextet was exploring compositions like this Number One.

Steve Lacy: soprano; Bobby Few: piano; Steve Potts: alto, soprano; Jean-Jacques Avenel: bass; John Betsch: drums; Irène Aebi: violin
